Announcements

The PAM Alternative Dispute Resolution Committee is organising the ADR Hybrid Seminar on Saturday, 17 December 2022 at 9.00 am - 1.00 pm at Dewan Presiden, Level 2, PAM Centre and via Zoom Webinar.

Synopsis of the Seminar:

Disputes are the norm in many construction projects due to the work nature involving complexities, uncertain environments, and human factors. Typical construction disputes are problems/issues relating to the design, contract documents, quality, completion, liquidated and ascertained damages, variations, loss or expense, disruption or defects. Besides litigation/common law, there are demands of jurisdiction driven by their professional background or expertise.

This seminar is introductory to alternative dispute resolution available in the construction industry concerning the PAM Contract, such as Arbitration, Adjudication, Mediation and Expert Determination - the role of the contract administrator and what suitable dispute resolution shall be expected when the dispute happens. Nevertheless, the contract administrator shall be a quasi-arbitrator to resolve the dispute before it gets more intense. As such, the construction project can be completed accordingly.

Speakers:

  • Mr. Chang Wei Mun, Independent Arbitrator
  • Ar. David Cheah Ming Yew, Director, DCDA Architect
  • Ar. Heng See Imm, Architect
  • Ar. Menaha Ramanath, MENAHA ARCHITECT, Solutions Consultant

PAM Members, especially young Architects, Engineers, Surveyors and Project Managers, are encouraged to participate in this introductory session.

Free admission for PAM Members. Non-PAM Members are chargeable at RM 70.00 for physical participation and RM 30.00 for virtual participation.

LAM CPD points have been applied.

Disputes Resolution in PAM Contract

Pertubuhan Akitek Malaysia (PAM) is pleased to inform you that in collaboration with Lixil Water Technology the American Standard Design Award 2022 (AS:DA) was launched and Call For Entries on 20 September 2022.

The American Standard Design Award (ASDA) seeks to uncover the power of design, to create not only a bathroom where one can recharge and rejuvenate but a space that is truly loved by everyone in the family. Students will be able to showcase their ideas and introduce the concepts through innovative designs that enable everyone to create a safe, hygienic and comfortable home that they love every day.

Multi-generational living under one roof presents a myriad of challenges and opportunities for designers to make a real, meaningful impact on family lives. Shared and multi-use spaces now form an integral part of the equation. The design approach should balance hygiene, ergonomics, safety, and convenience – especially for the elderly and children, to have a home catered to and loved by every family member.

Put on your thinking cap and start the brainstorming. Your ideas might just change how we live and bring us closer to those we love.
