Scope of Works

  • To promote the Built Heritage and Conservation after noticing there was a need to retain architectural, historical and social value of buildings
  • The committee has since been involved in National, State and private agencies as well as institutions to actively participate in their programs.
  • The Committee has published books, talks and visits to enrich the members as well as the public
  • The Committee was part responsible for the establishment of Badan Warisan Malaysia and the newly formed ICOMOS Malaysia where PAM is the secretariat for the latter
  • The panel of experts in the Committee is also available in their own capacities in providing consultancies

  1. To address the current situation of the foreign architects in Malaysia
  2. To gather the list of foreign architects firms that are currently having practices in Malaysia
  3. To assist Office Bearers on matters related to liberalisation and address the matter to LAM.
  4. To formulate the format of agreement on scope of work and fees for foreign architects in Malaysia

Committee’s Targets 2014/2015

  1. Memorandum on PAM’s position on Liberalisation
    - To issue the Memorandum on PAM’s position on liberalisation, and to arrange a meeting/dialogue with the relevant Minister to present the Memorandum
  2. Guideline and matrix for local and foreign architects collaboration
    - To work together with LAM on preparing the guidelines
    - The Committee proposed to include a new category ‘Collaborative with Non-Malaysian Architects’ for PAM Awards, to clearly identify and recognise the Malaysian Architects doing collaboration works with foreign architects.
  3. Architecture Malaysia website
    - To develop a website in promoting the Malaysian architecture. This website will promote works by PAM Member/Malaysian Architects.
  4. Lecture Series on ‘Design’
    - To work together with CPD and Design Lecture Series Committee to look into organising series of lectures on ‘design’.

Objective
The Committee’s objective is to work with all stakeholders and function as key advisor in striving for an improved delivery of housing projects and the betterment of quality of lives in housing communities.

Scope of Works

  1. To engage in dialogues with the Ministry of Housing and Local Government regularly in housing related matters that needs urgent attention by all stakeholders.
  2. To assist the government in proposing and developing related guidelines to arrive at acceptable standards and specifications for low and medium cost houses.
  3. To provide an advisory service to practising architects, the government or the private sector.
  4. To act as the “expert” group of PAM which deals with all matters of Housing that have been referred to Council from both the government and private sectors, the public or any other organisation.
  5. To defend and advance the important role of architects to the public, developers, authorities and government in matters related to housing in the country.
  6. To engage in greater context with the housing communities and public to congregate information that can be promoted to all the stakeholders concerned for improvement to the current systems and policies.
  7. To respond to housing problems, identify housing issues, and create awareness among members to keep them informed on housing issues.
  8. To explore more participation of architects via open competitions in the design and construction of affordable homes in the greater Klang Valley with all stakeholders, namely the Public and private sector property developers.
  9. To hold workshops to discuss housing issues and problems and publish solutions for public consumption.
  10. To build up a resource centre or databank of information on housing where literature and expertise can be extracted from by the practising architects, government, private sectors and the public.
  11. To undertake studies and assignments on housing.
  12. To organise research programmes for architectural students
