“Buildings that breathe...”
24 October 2013
Speaker: Mr. Richard Kirk
Venue: PAM Northern Chapter

Synopsis:

KIRK A+UD is an independent multi-studio practice with studios in Australia, China and Malaysia. The practice works across almost all scales of projects, from fine pieces of furniture, to complex research buildings, to master planning and urban design.

Most of the projects we have worked on are often new to us, so we don’t rely on a set of assumptions to work from - rather we work from first principles and have learnt over time which is for us a rich field in which to search for ideas.

We look for what is the essential and unique to the project. We search for the particular condition of each project as that somehow gives the building grounding and an authenticity.

We work for the building to give the impression of being a self-evident part of their surroundings.

The talk will cover recent work by the practice completed in both Australia, Singapore, and Malaysia with a focus on our approach to creating buildings and places that a fine tuned to their environment and place.
