Speakers' Biography

SUNNY CHAN HEAN KEE is a director of Akitek Tenggara Sdn Bhd. Born in Malacca in 1947 and earned his Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Melbourne in 1972. He was elected a Corporate member of the Royal Institute of British Architects in 1975 and has been a Corporate member of PAM, and registered with LAM since 1981. On 23 July 2010, he was elected a Fellow of PAM.

He has worked in London with Fitzroy Robinson Partnership for 7 years before returning to Kuala Lumpur to work for 2½ years with Jabatan Perlaksanaan Projek Khas, DBKL. In 1981, Sunny joined Akitek Tenggara and since then, his working experience is extensive in the range of architectural services from design development to completion of building with Certificate of Occupation for single unit building, housing, offices, institutional and commercial developments. He had held several posts in PAM, involved in many of its activities from 1987 especially in the field of education and has served in the Education Committee, Practice & Housing Committee, as well as a Council Member from 1991 to 1994 and 1998 to 2001. He is presently serving in the PAM Community Program – Architects Meet the Public Session. He presently serves in LAM’s Panel Peperiksaan Bahagian, Profesional Bahagian III and Majlis Peperiksaan Senibina.
