1. MEMBERSHIP APPLICATIONS

i) New Applications ( Appendix A )

ii) Reinstatement of Corporate Membership

The following PAM Corporate Members have applied for re-instatement of their membership with PAM:

4. Ting Sii Sing, Clement (M 1116)

iii) Reinstatement of Graduate Membership

The following PAM Graduate Members have applied for re-instatement of their
membership with PAM:

1. Nazirah bt Abd Shukor (G 1465)
2. Kamsiah bt Ibrahim (G 1612)
3. Wan Norarjuna Wan Mustafa (G 1684)
4. Mohd Ali bin Salikin (G 1699)

iv) Application for PAM Membership

A letter was received from Dr K H Teo, requesting for admission as a PAM member.

The committee felt that PAM should create a new membership category (associate member) to be able to consider his request and also for other's requesting the same in future.

v) Application for Retired Membership of PAM

Ar. Looi Hoong Thoong had applied for Retired Membership of PAM in April 2004.

He has been informed that in accordance with the PAM Constituion, to be able to apply for the above membership he must cease to be a member of LAM and must be above 60 years of age.

He has written back to PAM, saying that he still wants to be registered with LAM for sentimental reasons and might consider surrendering his PAM membership.

ACTION: For Council's approval. Secretariat to follow up.


2. ACTIVITIES 2003 - 2004

i) PAM Charity Golf 2004

To-date 67 PAM Members' have confirmed their participation for this year's competition.

YB Dato' Seri Ong Ka Ting has informed that be will not be attending the Dinner & Prize Presentation ceremony as he will be travelling to Australia next week and will send one of his deputies for the ceremony.

PAM President had indicated that he too might not be present at the PAM Golf as he intends to follow the Ministers' delegation to Australia. In his absence, the Deputy President will take over his responsibilities during the Dinner & Prize Presentation ceremony.

The organising committee wishes to extend its invitation to all PAM Council members to attend the Dinner and Prize Presentation ceremony.

ii) Building Industry Dinner 2004

The Building Industry Dinner 2004 was successfully held on Friday 25 June 2004 at the Berjaya Times Square Hotel & Convention Center, Kuala Lumpur.

About 470 members' and guests attending the Dinner, officiated by YB Dato' Ir. Mohamad Zin bin Mohamad, Deputy Minister of Works.

ACTION: For Council's information. Secretariat to follow up.

iii) PAM Family Weekend

The PAM Family Weekend organised together with the PAM Southern Chapter will be held from 7-8 August 2004.

Jotun (M) Sdn Bhd have agreed to co-sponsor the event only up to a maximum of RM3,000.00 and have requested that PAM source for an additional sponsor to cover the cost of entertainment, staff accommodation & travelling and expenses for the members' spouse and family programme.

Due to time constraint to liaise with sponsors, Chairman will request for additional sponsorship from PAM Council.

iv) PAM Annual Dinner 2004

The PAM Annual Dinner 2004 will be held on Saturday 11 September 2004 at the Mandarin Oriental, Kuala Lumpur.

Reply is being awaited from YAB Dato' Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, on whether he can accept PAM's invitation to be the Guest-of-Honour

v) Triangular Golf Tournament 2004

To be post-poned to next year.

3. COMPETITION & AWARDS

i) PAM 2004 Awards

100 submissions were received for this year's Awards.

The submissions are currently being short-listed by the following Master Jury:

1) Mr Andra Matin
2) Mr Tan Kok Hiang
3) Ar Jimmy Lim Cheok Siang
4) Assoc Prof Dr. Mohamad Tajuddin Mohamad Rasdi
5) Mr Chiam Soon Hock

A letter of complaint was received from Ar. Jimmy Lim, indicating that he was not given the required information for him to be able to short-list the submissions.

PAM Secretariat had subsequently emailed him the requested information.

ii) PAM Gold Medal Award

The announcement to call for additional nominations for the above Award was published in the May issue of the Berita Akitek. The closing date for nominations is Saturday 21 August 2004.

4. YOUTH & SPORT MATTERS

i) Overseas Visit

The committee has confirmed Singapore for the overseas visit.

The proposed date for the visit is October 2004 and it will co-incide with the UIA Regional Forum which will be held in Singapore.

ACTION: For Council's information. Secretariat to follow up.

ii) Discourse Workshop

The Chairman has been informed that this event can be arranged with the Education Committee on the Student Workshop.

A Workshop has been proposed for March 2005, to include a Q&A session with the students on the advantages of the PAM Student membership.

iii) Inter Firm Friendly Games

Due to good response from members' firms, the games will be organised more frequently next year.
