Technology Is In! What’s Next? Re-thinking The Design Studio Pedagogy For The New Normal

This session shares a preposition of a design implementation model (DIM) developed through a three stage analysis on the challenges of online design studio

Synopsis:
The adoption of technology and online learning hastened by the pandemic has flattened the learning space and studio teaching to the 'screen'. Having recognized the challenges and opportunities of online learning, School of Architecture, Building and Design at Taylor's University conducted a study between November 2020 - March 2021 with the aim to develop a way forward in design studio teaching and reduce the gaps in the challenges faced. The study involved student satisfaction surveys, interviews with lecturers, and a focus group with design academics. This session shares a preposition of a design implementation model (DIM) developed through this three stage analysis on the impact on online design studio.
