Speaker Biography
Born in 1966 in Batu Pahat, Johor. Moved to Brunei in 1967 until 1975. Then moved back to Batu Pahat. In 1979, went to Sekolah Tun Fatimah, Johor Bahru. In 1984, continued her studies in University of Utah, USA for a year and transferred to University of Arizona for 5 years for a degree in Bachelor of Architecture.

In 1990 worked at Pakatan Reka Arkitek, KL for 5 years. In 1995 worked at Kumpulan Akitek for 15 years. 2010 set up sole-proprietor office named Mumtazah Architect before setting up a body corporate office ArchiSphere Sdn Bhd with Ar. Fam Boon Heng.

Some of the buildings that she has designed are among others the CIMB Office Tower in KL Sentral, University of Nottingham Malaysia Campus, Semenyih, BioScience & BioEngineering Faculty, UTM Skudai JB, EduCity Student Housing, Nusajaya, and Pusat Permata Kurnia, Sentul.

Currently part of a specialized Autism research team under Autism Speaks New York on a paper entitled Design and Modulation of the Environment to Enhance Functioning of Individuals with Autism and Other Developmental Disabilities. Research team members consists of international multidisciplinary specialists such as medical advisors from Autism Speaks and architects from Kohn Pedersen Fox. Paper to be published by American Academy of Health & Science sometime year 2018.

Actively involved in several Autism activities as advisor to parents on design living for autism, organizing parent training sessions, and doing research on adults with autism.

Synopsis
An Architect's Personal & Professional Journey in the World of Autism that leads to the Development of Pusat Permata Kurnia, South East Asia's 1st Government funded purpose built building for children with Autism. A look into the statistics and data which lead to the pressures of life for people with Autism and how Architecture can assist them.
