Training of Trainer (ToT) Workshop and Access Audit in the Built Environment is the workshop to expedite the awareness and understanding of technical officer especially Architects, Assistant Architects, Engineers, Assistant Engineers and Technicians who are assigned to check building plans and enforcement and to the professionals in the field of construction to have a clearer picture of the design of facilities for Person with Disabilities (PwDs).

The workshop is expected to provide a constructive and positive exposure so that the employee and professionals in the field of construction are more sensitive to the design of the PwDs facilities and can be applied and implemented in all new building projects and retrofit buildings. The rapid and progressive development that exists in the Southeast Asian region needs to take into consideration the capabilities of the PwDs by providing the architecture that has been planned and formed based on the principle of Universal Design.

Objectives

  1. Aims to accelerate the awareness and understanding of technical officers, especially Architects, Assistant Architects, Engineers, Assistant Engineers and Technicians from Local Authorities and Professional Bodies who are assigned to check building plans and enforcement.
  2. To provide constructive and positive exposure so that officers and professionals especially in the construction area are more aware of the design of PwDs’ facilities and can be applied in all new and retrofit building projects.
  3. To introduce participants on the implementation of the Barrier-Free concept and Universal Design as well as awareness to participants about the problems and challenges faced by the PwDs if access is not provided and to understand how to read the drawing of an accessibility plan.
  4. To produce universal design & accessibility star rating for all 5 case studies area.
