Ar Amzar received a scholarship to further his studies in the UK and spent 8 years to finish with a Bachelor of Arts in Architecture Studies and Diploma in Architecture from Liverpool Polytechnic. He returned to Malaysia in 1984 and started his career as an architect with Perunding Alam Bina. He was made a director in 1991 and retired from the firm in 2005 where he then formed his current practice of ArAHDESIGN Partnership in February 2006.
A member of PAM since 1985, he was elected as a Fellow in 2011. Ar. Amzar has been active in the various PAM committees since 2006 and was in the PAM Council for 3 terms, the last term as PAM Honorary Treasurer in 2013-2014. He had served as PAM representative in the Majlis Akreditasi Pengajian Senibina Malaysia ( MAPSM ) and served as a panel of assessor for the Parts I & II as well as Part III LAM Exams. Ar Amzar has also participated as an external reviewer of the various Architecture programs in Malaysia.
With over 30 years of experience in practice, he was involved in various projects from residential, commercial, industrial, hospitals, universities and masterplanning projects for the Government and private sectors. Projects he was involved in had received the PAM Award and the PAM Steel Award. His interest is also in planning and landscape, with a wide and varied experience in the design, documentation and implementation of TV, Broadcasting & Film Production facilities as well as auditorias and theatres. Some of the major masterplanning studies he was involved in include Kuala Lumpur Sentral Masterplan, PUTRAJAYA Development Masterplan, Bandar Tun Hussein Onn Masterplan, Bertam Perdana Masterplan and Lestari Perdana Masterplan. He has also travelled to the UK, Europe, USA, Japan and Australia on study tours of various developments.
