About PAM Grad’s Fair 2023 by PAMNXT | Mainstream Cross

This year’s theme is Mainstream Cross-Stream, where we focus on new skills developed by graduates to help accelerate the deployment into the digital economy and address issues of sustainability and the circular economy. The Grad's Fair would help give the talents of architecture graduates access to the sectors of construction as well as other growing markets such as creative, digital, and innovation.

In the previous Grad’s Fair 2019, we gained a total of 20 top architecture practises of various sizes as well as 80 participants. The total potential of the graduate market stands at approximately 10,000 graduate architects, of whom 1,413 are registered PAM graduates and associate members.

This year, we expect a higher turnout with the increased economic activity due to the pandemic transition period and offer participation from the public service, developers, and contractors, apart from architectural practises and cross-industry players from the creative, digital, and innovation industries.

THE 5TH ARCHITECTURE STUDENT DESIGN COMPETITION 2023 IS AN INITIATIVE OF 22ND INTERNATIONAL ARCHITECTURE, INTERIOR DESIGN & BUILDING EXHIBITION (ARCHIDEX) 2023 (ARCHIDEX IS JOINTLY ORGANISED BY PERTUBUHAN AKITEK MALAYSIA AND C.I.S NETWORK SDN BHD)

1. Introduction

The main goal of the international competition, organized by ARCHIDEX and Pertubuhan Akitek Malaysia (PAM) is to solicit new innovative architectural and urbanistic ideas dealing with current issues and challenges. The competition expects to generate thoughtful and provocative ideas that truly benefit mankind. A design challenge for the competition is to define architecture by proposing a design solution ranging from urban to architectural scale. Beyond a simple design competition, ARCHITALENT will continue to encourage creation, audacity and the capacity to imagine visions in realizing the world of the built environment.

For the second time, ARCHIDEX is hosting ARCHITALENT 2023 as an ARCASIA-level architecture competition featuring architecture students’ works from the 22 member institutes of the Architect Regional Council Asia (ARCASIA);

2. Theme

‘THE REALM’
The architecture of the built environment can now be experienced in both the physical and virtual worlds. We are living in a realm of the physical environment in which all parts of the built environment challenges our daily life. Today, people would also be said to live together in an immersive, collective and hyper-realistic virtual environment. How would these realities be made possible?

THE REALM challenges us to design the living reality by defining architecture that would be able to address the real need of mankind; intelligence, emotional and spiritual. For instance, how would designers deliver architectural solutions that would be able to fit as much as possible the targets of 17 goals of the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals? How would THE REALM address the challenges of past themes; Social Architecture (2017), Space (2018), Architecture 4.0: Towards Building A Better Nation (2019) and Future City (2022)? ARCHITALENT 2023 invites all architecture students to explore the endless possibilities within the architectural knowledge base in the big data world that is so large, fast and complex. The ideal proposal must be critical of the reality of the built environment within the abstract sphere of influence, be it real or imagined. The domain of architecture; THE REALM shall be founded and created in the realization of an innovative environment for the people.
