Circular from Perbadanan Urus Air Selangor Berhad (PUAS)

a) Provision to Use dark Blue Colour for ABS pipes
With effect from 1 January 2005, dark blue colour for ABS pipes are required to be installed in Selangor, Kuala Lumpurand Putrajaya.

b) Temporary suspension of the usage of panel tank type FRP
The usage of panel tank type FRP in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya is temporarily suspended. Based on a test done by PUAS called “hydrostatic test”, it was established that the panel tank type FRP does not comply with MS 1390: 1995 and SS 245: 1995 requirement.With effect from July 2004, unapproved panel tank type FRP for water tank is required to be handed to PUAS for maintenance.

Latest Fire Extinguisher approved for public usage

With effect from 15 January 2005, BOMBA has enforced the use of Fire Extinguisher tested by SIRIM according to MS 1539: Part 1: 2002and approvedby Research, Plan and Development Department, Fire and Rescue Department, Malaysia.
All sales of Fire Extinguisher based on the old standard (MS 1179: 1990) must be ceased. However, the use of existing Fire Extinguisher based on old standard may be continued and replaced with new standard (MS 1539: Part 1: 2002) in stages upon the expiry dates. Expiry date of the existing Fire Extinguisher must be based on the specific type, as shown below:

The differences of the Fire Extinguisher complying with standard MS 1539: Part 1: 2002 are as follows:

1. Cylinder’s are red in colour (“signal red” based on Standard RAL 3000)
2. “Wording” classification ( includes the background)
